So... Food I Suppose
This is me. I like food.
This is Jody. She also likes food.
So I started this blog to talk about our food. Because... it seemed like a good idea. There's a good chance Jody will post stuff eventually. The idea was to put up pictures of us cooking and give you an idea of the food we made.
Today, I forgot to take pictures. But we made a bunch of food so I thought I'd talk about it anyways.
Breakfast: Well... sort of breakfast. It may have been 2:30 in the afternoon but that totally counts as breakfast if it's the first thing you eat. Right?
Jody bought these a while ago. They're for poaching eggs. So we decided to try them out. We bought some fresh eggs and tomatoes from the Calgary Farmer's Market, some English muffins from Safeway (the cheese kind) and some Hollandaise sauce mix. Yes, sauce mix. When my breakfast is concerned I'm rarely in the mood to toy around with sauce making. If that makes me a bad person... stuff it.
So eggs were poached. Unfortunately we overcooked them a little but since it was the first time we'd used the pouches we weren't heartbroken. Besides, they looked a lot prettier than the poached eggs we usually make and they didn't completely fall apart. I'd consider it a success. Topped with the Hollandaise and some salsa verde they were delicious.
Supper: Poutine!
Again, with the instant gravy. But again... stuff it.
Fresh cheese curds from the farmer's market. Some sauteed onions. Some sauteed bunashumeji mushrooms for Jody. (Her exclamation at the market was "THESE MUSHROOMS ARE SO CUTE!") Home made French fries.
Tonight's drinks provided by Wild Rose Brewery. We bought their sampler pack. It included their Brown Ale, India Pale Ale, Velvet Fog (unfiltered wheat beer) and the Wraspberry Ale. My favorite so far has been the Brown Ale with the Wraspberry coming a close second.
So... see you next time maybe why not? I'll try to have more pictures and be more entertaining. Right now I'm going to have more beer and finish watching The Blues Brothers.
